What Is A Circular Saw?
Tools are the most important weapons for any remodel. A circular saw is a woodworking tool. It is used to make precise cuts on wood. Depending on the type of model, it is powered either via batteries or directly attached to any standard socket with its power cord. A motor converts electrical energy and uses it to work the blade. It is a direct substitute to the hand-held saw.
A sharp blade is housed in the middle of the saw, enclosed by a guard. The base is metallic, with cuts in it to see through. There are two grooves at the front to see the marking/guidelines on the material to be cut. The grip on top enables hand-held functioning. It has a bevel adjustment knob to change the angle of the blade and a depth lock knob to set how deep it will cut. The exact look changes by brand and model, but these are the basics that you will find in them.
How To Use?
- Start by attaching the material to the workstation and drawing guidelines. Place the good side down as working tends to tear the material. You would not want that on the presentable side.
- If you want to preserve the material, use masking tape along the lines. These ensure a cleaner cut without hindering your line of sight.
- Use different blades depending on the material. Metal blades can cut through the wood but shift to diamond cut blades when working with stone or other hard materials.
- Plug the circular saw and let the base of the saw rest on the material. Find the guided line and align it with the groove.
- Set the angle and depth with the bevel adjustment knob and depth lock knob, respectively. It is advised to set the blade a quarter inch below the material to get a clean cut.
- Toggle the safety switch and switch on the saw.
- Carefully follow the guidelines marked by you making sure to keep the base on the material. Do not push the saw too fast.
- After a successful cut, release the switch. Remove the saw only after the cut is finished. If you are removing it mid-cut, you would have to pull it a bit back before pulling up.
