Problems can arise in any part of the house with time. Good care of the house can help you eliminate or delay some problems, but unfortunately, that is not always the case. A few homeowners ignore particular problems of the house.

This is a dangerous practice, as often a problem that was small before could become critical if not addressed timely. By the time they call you in, chances are that the problem has already reached a major stage. Even if it has not, you should be able to identify the severity of the problem and offer solutions.

Let us go over two of the most common problems and their solutions.

Plumbing

One of the common & recurring problems in bathrooms and kitchens is a leak. This can happen around the faucets or near showerheads. You may think how is this critical? It turns for the worse if the leak was untreated for a long time and was internal (that couldn’t be seen with a naked eye).

Check the walls for dampness. This would mean that the pipe hidden behind the wall is leaking. If a leaking pipeline is left untreated for long, the water could have seeped into the wall, making it weak. It can also cause fungal growth or accidents by interfering with the electricity boards around. Repair it by removing the affected piece of the wall, cutting the pipe, and putting a repair sleeve on it. Extreme damage shouldn’t be repaired; in such cases, suggest replacing the pipe. Here are some different types of pipes to help you understand better.

Foundation

Concrete slab and basement foundations are two of the most used foundations. It is the base on which the house stands, which means damage to this is a big problem. The materials used for it are durable but could crack because of repeated rain and heat. Cracks to a certain extent are okay. Beyond that, it will start affecting the house.

Visible signs for a poor foundation are cracks or broken pieces. You could also use a spirit level to determine the problem. A shift in foundation causes the inside of the house to tilt. This tilt is often minimum at the starting stages. You can also see cracks forming across the walls and ceiling because of the shift in weight.

Cracks bigger than 1/4th of an inch should be repaired. Inject silicone or some other patching material and wait for it to dry. If there is increased moisture near the foundation, it can cause the soil beneath to become soft. This leads to a sinking foundation problem. Repair for this is more complicated. Using a hydraulic machine, we inject steel piers until they reach a load-bearing level in the soil. We then put additional piers in for support. The cost for this type of repair is around $1000 to $3000. You could help your client with that. There are many benefits to provide financing to your client.
